LEHR SIGNATURE HOMES LLC began in 1991 as RKL CONSTRUCTION LLC. Based in Seattle, RKL Construction specialized in the development of land and construction of unique communities.
In 2000 we made a life change for our family and business by moving to Lopez Island in the San Juan Islands and then onto Friday Harbor a number of years later. We streamlined our operation, changed our name and concentrated at first on construction projects on Anacortes and in the San Juans. In 2008 with the changing economy and our perception that there was a growing need for individualized budget controlled construction we made the strategic decision to focus on building custom homes in the San Juan Islands while enjoying the fruits of island living.
With the experience in building over 180 homes often in competition with national builders we have learned the importance of controlling budget and time allowing us to build at costs (usually between $135 – $200 per foot) while providing quality construction and excellent service.
Our experience in land development allow us to oversee all services including road construction, septic and water systems, and landscaping in addition to home construction.
At present we employ four carpenters and painters in addition to a general contractor/superintendent. We also utilize the skills of both off-island and on-island subcontractors with whom we have long term successful relationships.
